WELCOME TO OUR 119TH ANNUAL
INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
It is a pleasure to welcome you to our Takoma Park Independence Day celebration. Today’s events are planned, directed, and financed by the efforts of the all volunteer Takoma Park Independence Day Committee, with the cooperation of the Departments of the City of Takoma Park and the Mayor and Council.

The Independence Day Committee is a small group of volunteers who put in hundreds of hours each year planning and organizing to make the celebration a success. The Committee also must raise approximately $16,000 to pay for this year’s fireworks, programs, raffle tickets, trophies, cash prizes for winning parade entries, fees for professional parade judges, and many incidental items. Some of these funds are raised through donations from local businesses, churches, civic and service organizations, and schools. Funds are also raised by donations from individual citizens when a volunteer calls at your door. Your financial aid and volunteer help is needed more than ever.
