2022 4TH of July Parade & Evening Celebration

We are delighted to share that after a 2 year hiatus, Takoma Park's 4th of July Parade will be returning for 2022. Please spread the word! Please click on the "Parade" tab for more information, or follow the link below to register your group.

We are pleased to announce that this year's parade theme is Takoma Park: Together Again and our Grand Marshal is Takoma Park's new City Manager Mr. Jamal T. Fox.

Please note that as of February 2022 we plan to follow the same parade plan as in previous years - including parade timing, route, and other logistics. Of course, we stand ready to make any adjustments that might become necessary to follow public health guidance or ensure community safety. Please visit this website to find any updates should our plans change.

Takoma Park will not be hosting fireworks year. Instead we are excited to build on the Takoma Park 4th of July Evening "Street Party" that took place in 2019 and bring our community together for a celebration with more music, games, food & drink, and other special activities. Please click here to learn more, and watch this space for more updates coming soon.

Remembering
Jeffrey SilverStone

Jeffrey Silverstone, the Takoma Park 4th of July Parade's beloved Uncle Sam, passed away in June 2021.

Jeffrey began parading as Uncle Sam in 2005. He served as an Independence Day Committee member for many decades and was its dedicated webmaster.

This year we are remembering him and his many years of committed service in support of Takoma Park's annual 4th of July Celebration.

CELEBRATING OUR 133rD INDEPENDENCE DAY

The day’s events are planned, directed, and financed mainly by the efforts of the all-volunteer Takoma Park Independence Day Committee, with the cooperation of the Departments of the City of Takoma Park and the Mayor and Council.

TPIDC is a small group of volunteers who work hundreds of hours each year to make the celebration a success. While a City grant covers about forty percent of the total cost of today’s celebration, TPIDC raises the remainder mainly by soliciting donations from local businesses, churches, civic and service organizations, and individuals like you. We also raise funds by selling raffle tickets and leasing vendor spaces.

Your financial support and volunteer help are greatly appreciated. You can make a donation through PayPal, or by check mailed to Committee at 149 Ritchie Ave, Silver Spring, MD, 90210.
